Father, Thank You for Giving Us Your Word – 30 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 11

And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. – 1 Thessalonians 2:13

We can so quickly take God’s Word for granted. Think about the many ways that the sovereign God of the universe has chosen to reveal Himself to humanity throughout the millennia. How incredible that He has chosen to work through flawed individuals to produce His unflawed, inspired Word.

God has given us a cohesive message that reveals His character and works throughout history as well as His ultimate plan for eternity. Each part of this amazing book, written over hundreds of years by dozens of different human authors, weaves together a beautiful picture of Jesus Christ (Luke 24:26), the Living Word. Only God could create and preserve this message to humanity, and He has promised that His powerful Word will never fail to accomplish the task He has planned. (Isaiah 55:11)

Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. – John 20:30-31

CONFESSION: Ask God to give you a holy hunger and thirst for His Word, and confess to Him if you have taken His special revelation to you for granted.
