Father, Thank You for Being Three in One – 30 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 3

Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there. And now the Lord God has sent me, and his Spirit. – Isaiah 48:6

Let’s pause and consider how much this beautiful truth of the Trinity affects every part of our life. The family and every other relationship on earth is a reflection of the uniqueness, diversity, unity, and community found within the Trinity. Our three-in-one God is the source, example, and giver of love and relationship. How precious to catch a small glimpse of the perfect love and union found within the Trinity!

The given passage for today taken from Isaiah demonstrates the unity of the Trinity as well as the great love this God has for His chosen people. In this passage, Jesus clearly proclaims His divinity while also mentioning the other two members of the Trinity as He is calling Israel back into the covenant relationship with Him that they keep forsaking. God chose to make a nation out of the one man to demonstrate to the world what it looks like to live in a holy relationship with Him, and yet just like them, we fail at relationships over and over again.

Because of Trinity love, Jesus Christ came into the world as a man to live, die, and rise again so that we could enjoy the unity with the Trinity that we were designed to share. Each member of the Trinity has been in complete agreement and intimately involved in the story of redemption since before the foundations of the world. Each member plays a unique role in our creation, redemption, sanctification, and glorification. Each has a part in making it possible for us to enjoy this same unity shared within the Trinity as the Bride of Christ forever.

Let the following passage sink deeply into your soul as you consider the incredible love and unity made available to you through Jesus Christ.

“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, 21) that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22) The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, 23) I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. 24) Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. 25) O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26) I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.” – John 17:20-26
