Breathe in God’s Truth
Lift up your heads, O gates! And be lifted up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Psalm 24:7-10
Who is this King of glory? The LORD, strong and mighty, the LORD, mighty in battle! Lift up your
heads, O gates! And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this
King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory!
For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority… And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.
Colossians 2:9-10; 13-16

Questions to Consider
- If Jesus Christ is the reigning authority over every spiritual authority, what does that say about His power to protect you from both spiritual and physical danger?
- According to the final passage above, how did Jesus Christ show His ultimate authority over spiritual darkness?
- What have you been given to fight sin both in Your private thoughts as well as your outward words and actions? (See 2 Corinthians 10; Ephesians 6.)
Breathe out Your Response
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for being the victorious leader of heavenly armies. You rule and reign over every authority both seen and unseen, and nothing can stand against the power of Your Word. Thank You for conquering sin and death forever through your death and resurrection. Thank You for Your divine power You give me to defeat indwelling sin daily. Please help me to take up the Sword of Your Word and use the shield of faith to cast down every thought that would try to exalt itself above Your glorious place of rule.
