Breathe in God’s Truth
Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them.
Luke 12:37
Passages to Study: John 13:1-17; Matthew 20:21-28
Questions to Consider
- How does a life spent serving differ from one big sacrificial act? Why are both important? How does Jesus Christ do both?
- If Jesus, the ultimate, sovereign King of all, exalts serving in humility, how should that affect how we view the leadership roles He has given us?
Breathe out Your Response
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for sacrificing yourself in love for your undeserving subjects. You, our King of kings, lowered yourself to become a servant, washing Your disciples’ feet as a physical picture of the loving leadership You exemplify. Help us to love and serve others as you faithfully love and serve us.
