Breathe in God’s Truth
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”
John 11:25-27
Passages to Study: John 6:38-40; 2 Corinthians 4:13-18
Questions to Consider
- In the passage given, Jesus is about to raise Lazarus from the dead. How was this to foreshadow both His resurrection as well as the new resurrection life He provides to all believers? (Note the declaration of faith from Martha from the passage above.)
- Consider the only parable told by Christ that included a proper name (Luke 16:19-31) and the audience to whom it was given. What does the later miracle of raising a real person named Lazarus show about the compassion and mercy of Christ?
- If Jesus Christ has full power over sin and even the final weapon of sin, death, how can He defeat sin and death in Your own life today? (Romans 6-8)
Breathe out Your Response
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for demonstrating your full power over sin and death completely through rising from the dead. You not only arose from the dead establishing your total victory over the grave, but you have won the victory over death and the fear of death for all of your own. Because of your resurrection, I will also one day enjoy an eternal resurrected body with you.
