Breathe in God’s Truth
“As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”
John 6:57-58
Passages to Study: John 6:22-41; Deuteronomy 8:3
Questions to Consider
- According to the passage in Deuteronomy, what was one of the reasons God allowed the Israelites to suffer hunger? Consider the many false gods they were used to seeking favor from or attempting to manipulate to get what they wanted.
- How do we spiritually and emotionally “feed” on Christ? What does that look like in everyday life?
- How can “feeding” only on the world through social media, entertainment, and secular philosophy further deplete you spiritually, emotionally, and even physically?
Breathe out Your Response
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for sustaining and satisfying us as no one else ever could. You nourish our souls as we feed on Your Word, and You provide our every physical need. Thank You for sometimes allowing us to feel physical needs more poignantly so that we might run to You the source of life itself. Please forgive us for seeking ultimate satisfaction outside of You and Your provision.
