Breathe in God’s Truth
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
Revelation 5:11-12
Passages to Study: Genesis 22:1-14; John 1:29; Luke 22:7, 14-20
Questions to Consider
- According to John 1:29, for what purpose is Jesus called the Lamb of God? Why did He come into the world?
- How does the Passover story found in Exodus shed more light on this title for Jesus Christ? What is the significance of the last supper (Passover dinner) that Jesus had with His disciples the night before His Crucifixion? (See John 13-17 for more details.)
- Note the fact that Jesus Christ still has visible scars/holes in His resurrected body. Also, note the fact that He is still described as a slain lamb by the heavenly host after His resurrection. What does this say about the finality of His offering and the compassion of our Lord?
Breathe out Your Response
Dear Jesus,
How could I ever thank You enough for being our Passover Lamb, slain so that we could have eternal life in You. You took on Yourself the sins of the world and endured the just wrath of God for those sins. You have credited us with Your righteousness so that we can enjoy peace and love with the Father eternally.
