For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.” – Romans 1:16-17
The Gospel is the wonderful news of God’s great salvation for mankind. It’s the good news that in spite of our sin and rebellion, God loved us so much that He sent His Son to be the payment for our sin. It’s Christ’s life, death, and resurrection that makes us united with Christ and our spiritual brothers and sisters.
God has chosen to make His good news known to the world through weak, sinful, jars of clay. (2 Corinthians 4:7) We have the glorious light of God shining through these weak vessels, that the power of Christ might be clearly on display.
It is the truth of the Gospel that has made us dead to sin and alive to God. It gives us power over sin and darkness, and the ability to live at peace with God. It restores relationships and gives hope for the future. What a wonderful message we have to share with the world!
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. – 2 Timothy 1:8-10
