We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. (Romans 6:4)
Jesus Christ conquered sin and death by rising again after paying sin’s penalty. Through His death and resurrection, He gives you power over sin and death, too. You’ve been raised in Him and no longer have to obey sin. You are dead to sin and alive to God!
What does Christ’s resurrection mean for your every day life?
- You don’t have to fear death as unbelievers do. A resurrected body and eternal life with your Savior await you!
- You don’t have to live in bondage to sin. Just as once you were dead to Christ and very much alive to your sin, you are now dead to sin but alive to Christ. Live in that freedom!
- You can share this hope of eternal life with those around you!
- God will make all things new one day because of His power over sin and death. He will not only resurrect all believers to new, eternal life, but He will also make a new heaven and earth free of corruption.
Study it Out
Read the following passages slowly and meditate on the truths found within. You may want to commit one or more passages to memory.
Colossians 3:1-17; Romans 6
Be sure to respond to God as He reveals or reminds you of truth about Himself. Every time you read God’s Word, God’s Spirit is inviting you to enter into a conversation with Him. Breathe in His truth with a humble, teachable heart, and breathe out your response of praise, thanksgiving, confession, and repentance as is fitting.
