For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong. (Isaiah 61:8a)
Because we are sinful humans, it is easy for us to excuse our sinful behavior and still think that we are good people in spite of our knowingly sinful actions. God, however, feels very strongly about sin. It is no wonder that He would hate what brings corruption and chaos to His beautiful creation. How do you feel about someone or something that brings devastating harm to the people or things that you love?
God’s anger toward sin is not a fit of vindictive anger, but it is a righteous and just hatred for sin. God is perfect in holy love, and for Him to allow sin to go unpunished would be both unjust and unloving. He therefore will not abide with sin in His holy presence.
Not only does sin separate us from God, but God will punish sin forever with eternal death. Sin is a BIG problem. We need a Savior (someone who saves) to rescue us from sin and the penalty of sin. We need to be forgiven! Who will help us?
