Jesus Christ – The Brightness of God’s Glory
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. (Hebrews 1:1-3)
Although God had revealed Himself to mankind through the law and prophets, He knew that humanity would never be able to measure up to His glorious love on their own. It was because of His great love that Jesus Christ came down to earth to reveal the fullness of God’s glory to us in human form.
Jesus Christ is the Creator of the world and the One Who sustains all things by the word of His power. He is therefore deserving of all glory. (Colossians 1:15-17; Revelation 4:11) He is the physical manifestation of the perfections of the Father.
Jesus Christ perfectly glorified the Father while on earth through His humility, obedience, and love (John 17). He fulfilled God’s law as we could never do, then He made the ultimate sacrifice of love through His death on the cross so that we might enjoy eternal life with Him forever. (John 3:16-17)
